Keeping doors closed without compromise
At Higham Furniture, we feel the aesthetics of a kitchen design are very important and should not have to be compromised too much for the sake of functionality. With this in mind, we found a way to keep the cupboard doors of our framed, shaker units firmly closed without having to resort to an unsightly mechanism. With plant-on, unframed doors soft close hinges do this job, but this is not an option when the door is framed and therefore we must be a little more ingenious. By concealing a magnet inside a small wooden block, with a second magnet inside the door itself, we are able to ensure the cupboards do not swing open without the use of unattractive, and sometimes noisy, metal catches. We will even ensure we use the same wood for the block as is being used for the internal fittings, ensuring it is as unobtrusive as possible. A nice little touch.
