A contemporary take on an old classic....

The Shaker style of kitchen has been popular since the 18th century, but here we have a modern styled version to bring it up to date. This bespoke island incorporates a stylish system of framed drawers of varying sizes, allowing for easy storage of all your kitchen wares and effectively incorporates an appliance.

Natural Oak has been used here for the drawer box, with attractive dovetail joins showing. The Oak's natural grain contrasts beautifully with the hand-painted finish in Paint Library Lead V Eggshell. Brushed metal cup handles compliment the oven front and help give the kitchen a more contemporary feel to a traditional Shaker design.

Optional supply finish to your furniture

Staying with the thread of the last couple of posts, here is another unit that highlights the benefit of working with bespoke designs. The dovetailed drawer box and the hardwood trays below sit alongside full-height doors. Sharing the same frames they are constructed as one unit, enhancing the hybrid freestanding look we can offer.

Unpainted and ready for the client to paint on-site, one of our finish options, this unit was photographed in our Hampshire workshop prior to delivery. Unless specified otherwise due to access reasons, our furniture is delivered fully constructed. All that remains to be done is offload and install the units once they arrive at your home.

Installation can be carried out by members of our skilled team or your own fitters, should you wish.

Bespoke hob unit in alcove.

Making the most of an awkward space in a room can be a real blessing. We have transformed this alcove from a potential blemish into a subtle and efficient hob unit. It is neatly styled, complimenting the wood flooring with great space-saving features and practical storage -even offering a small work surface to place a pot. The chunky mantle and corbels above the alcove really tie it all together, adding balance and extra colour to the design of the unit and the black granite worktop.

You can see its truly bespoke nature in the details. It wraps around the sides of the alcove with a functional lip to the frame, reducing installation time by avoiding additional scribing work. The tiles in the alcove are easily cleaned and the contained extractor fan will keep cooking smells from moving through the house. This is a perfect example of using what you've got in a room to your advantage.
