Integrated ovens with a touch of timber

Back in April, Polish appliance manufacturer Amica were awarded a Red Dot Award in product design for it's Zen integrated oven. The appliance was designed with simplicity in mind, featuring a matt glass front, coloured either white or black, and only 2 buttons. It embraces more natural elements, featuring as it does an interchangeable timber handle available in Birch, Ebony or Oak. It has an 'A' energy efficiency rating, and whilst it features a variety of cooking functions, it does not have the standard clock and timer we have become accustomed to. As Amica themselves say "The Zen is the antithesis of overwhelming technology. No illumination, alarms, ringtones or buzzing timers - nothing to attack the senses." - Source.

Amica are now considering bringing this appliance to the UK, but due to it's somewhat unique features are wishing to get a feel for the response it is likely to receive in the British market before committing themselves.

What do you think? Are you falling in love with it's simplicity and clean lines, or do you feel that the Amica Zen is out of place in today's fast-paced society? If you feel like sharing your opinion then why not contact Amica through their website or tweet them at @amicauk and let them know.

  1. There is no way that this simple and effective oven can fail to impress you. I mean, from its looks itself, it draws your attention. And as for the features, lemme put it this way "just because bean bags today are more used doesn't mean metal table legs are a thing of the past." Get my drift? Any good quality oven like this will always have its own share of lovers. :)
